Indian cumin seed prices see boost
Indian cumin seeds prices have shown a gradual increase of late, Virdhara International, manufacturer and exporter of Indian spices and oilseeds, observed in a report for the week to October 11.
Yashodhan Shah of Virdhara International indicated that prices for Indian cumin seed of European quality had gained to USD1,815 per tonne fob Mundra on October 11 from USD1,800/tonne fob a week earlier while those of Singapore quality advanced to USD1,725/tonne fob from USD1,715/tonne fob earlier.
Shah expects the upturn to continue on the basis that there is good demand from both the domestic and international markets.
Average daily arrivals are at 500 tonnes in local markets and all these arrivals of cumin seeds are “consumed instantly”, Shah claimed.
He advised buyers to cover at current price levels to avoid paying higher prices later.
